Instructor, Katherine MaloneyLearn how to transform your vessels into luminaries and incense burners by piercing patterns through the clay walls. Instruction will include throwing, altering, and design ideas to create a form complimentary for cutting holes and shapes. With a focus on using carving and piercing tools, we will cover technical methods to ensure structural stability while retaining visual interest and elegant composition. Demonstrations will also include sculpting a small animal to embellish the incense burners, adding narrative and drawing on inspiration from ancient ceremonial vessels. Hand-builders are welcome to form a pot off the wheel.
