Red Poppy porcelain earrings This handmade, colored porcelain design was created using Nerikomi and Millefiori techniques. Nerikomi is a Japanese method of layering colored clays, forming a pattern that goes all the way through a block of clay.  Then it’s sliced to reveal the design. Millefiori i s Italian and means ‘thousand flowers’.  Millefiori is traditionally a design created with colored glass that is reduced by stretching into a ‘cane’.  The cane is cut to reveal the design; the pieces can be made into beads or added to additional glass to create intricate patterns.
