We will create several projects inspired by modern art styles and artists, and work with a variety of materials, including paint, paper, found objects, and more.You will learn how Piet Mondrian created order and balance from simplified, abstract forms and primary colors and take inspiration from Henri Matisse's bold, unnaturalistic use of color to create expressive pieces. Explore abstract expressionism and Jackson Pollock’s painting style as you experiment with dripping, splattering, and pouring paint to create your own unique compositions. Learn about Pop Art and the fun and accessible imagery of Andy Warhol, while transforming everyday objects and images into vibrant, repetitive works of art. Finally, you will explore the retro-futuristic style of mid-century modern and Atomic Art, which fused scientific fascination with space-age optimism. Learn about the distinctive, optimistic design style that reflected a post-war society captivated by nuclear power and space exploration.
